Sessions & Logistics
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. Virtual sessions are available across Ontario through a secure video platform, as well as in person. We can decide together which works best for what you are working through.
How long are sessions?
Individual sessions are 50 minutes. Couples and family sessions are 60 minutes. The free initial consultation is 15 minutes.
How often do we meet?
Most clients begin weekly or bi-weekly, then space sessions out as work progresses. Cadence is yours to set; I'll offer a recommendation based on what we're working on.
How long does therapy usually last?
It depends on what you are working with and your goals. Some clients find five to eight sessions are enough to settle a specific concern. Others stay longer for deeper or longer-standing work. We review progress regularly so the length is always your decision.
Fees & Insurance
How much do sessions cost?
Session fees are aligned with the recommended fee schedule for Registered Psychotherapists in Ontario. The free 15-minute consultation is at no cost — and is the right place to confirm the fee for the specific service you're considering (individual, couples, family, or Christian-based) before we book a first session.
Are sessions covered by insurance?
Many extended health plans in Ontario reimburse psychotherapy provided by a Registered Psychotherapist. I provide a receipt with my CRPO registration after each session for you to submit to your provider. Contact your insurer in advance with the question: "Are services from a Registered Psychotherapist covered under my plan?"
What forms of payment do you accept?
E-transfer and major credit cards. Payment is collected at the time of the session.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please give at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations are charged at the full session rate so I can hold the same time for you long-term without unfair pressure.
Confidentiality & Privacy
Is what I share confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is foundational to therapeutic work and is protected under Ontario privacy law (PHIPA) and the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario's professional standards. There are narrow legal exceptions — risk of serious harm, court order, child welfare — which I will explain fully at our intake session.
Where are my records kept?
Clinical records are kept in a secure, encrypted system that meets PHIPA requirements for the protection of personal health information. You can request a copy of your file at any time.
Approach
What therapy approaches do you use?
I draw on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), Narrative Therapy, Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and other empirically-supported approaches — applied flexibly to fit your story.
What is Christian-based counselling, and is it required?
Christian-based counselling is offered only when a client specifically requests it. It respectfully integrates faith and reflection into evidence-based therapy. It is never assumed and never required — clinical care for everyone else is the same caring, secular psychotherapy.
Getting Started
How do I begin?
Reach out through the contact form or by phone. We'll schedule a free 15-minute consultation, talk briefly to see if working together feels right, and book your first intake session if it does.
What should I bring to my first session?
Just yourself. We'll work through intake paperwork together, talk about what brings you to therapy, and set early goals at a pace that feels comfortable.
